About Us
Angilou Genuine French Furniture and Angilou Upholstery Ltd are based in the small hamlet of Octon between Driffield & Scarborough in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Our dedicated showroom and workshop is located in the old barns which we were renovated in 2013 and 2014. Matthew, Hannah and family lived in France near Perpignan for six years and over that time grew to love and appreciate the elegance of craftsmanship of french style.

Our focus and passion is for genuine antique french furniture however we also buy vintage and retro items that catch our eye that we believe will add interesting additions to any home no matter what your tastes are. We also renovate and transform furniture, giving once forgotten pieces a new lease of life that can hopefully be enjoyed by generations to follow.

We source all of our finds from local flea markets, french auction houses and from several contacts found during our almost 7 years of living and working in the south of France. We renovate and reupholster the majority of our pieces to new and take individual client commissions on selected items. Our current stock is listed in our shop page which is constantly being updated. We upholster, re-upholster and renovate: Armchairs, Dining Chairs, Loose Cushions, Sofas, Settees, Three Piece Suites, Foot Stools, Bar Stools, Caravan and Mobile Home Cushions, Beds and even Leather Chairs. If it has a fabric covering then we can upholster it!

French Bed Mattresses
French beds are truly unique! Not only are they wonderfully stylish and elegant but this uniqueness also transfers into their sizes. In our experience, there is nothing standard about french bed sizes!

We have teamed up with a local company to provide bespoke made pocket sprung mattresses specifically for french beds. These mattresses are specifically designed for Capitonne, Demi-Corbeille and Full Corbeille french bed styles in all sizes from small single beds up to super king size beds.

French Inspired Scalloped Headboards
Our unique headboards are all inspired by the gorgeous and stylish antique bedroom furniture of France.

Our headboard designs are taken from 19th Century wooden headboards that our sister company Angilou Genuine French Furniture have been sourcing for over 15 years.

When teamed up with a vintage or french inspired fabric, these headboards can truly bring a room to life.
